Why are serviceable parts not guaranteed for full term of Guarantee?

Serviceable parts are not usually guaranteed for the full term of the product guarantee as the parts can be serviced or replaced during the lifetime of the product.

The service interval of parts does depends on many factors. For example, a bathroom or kitchen tap fitted with a ceramic cartridge/valve used in a soft water area may be free from lime scale build up for many years in comparison to the same tap used in a hard water area which ay need replacing every 12 months.

To further understanding the meaning of serviceable part not covered under general guarantee is to compare it to that of the motor industry. If you purchase a new motor vehicle, they are often guaranteed for several years but serviceable parts such as tyres, exhausts, spark plugs and air-filters are excluded. The life expectancy of these parts depend on the use and their condition of use, just like a tap. If you drive your car for many miles each day on a motorway, the life expectancy of the tyres and other serviceable parts would be less than the same car driven at lower speeds for the odd journey around town.
